Experts in sheet metal projects, PAB Coventry, has recently rejoined the Made in Group in order to share and learn best practices from their 450+ members. Having diversified the business over the last few years to supply to the construction, defence and rail industries, PAB hopes to network with peer groups in order to understand the issues within industry and form solutions together.

Established in 1986 PAB Coventry pride themselves on forging partnerships with their clients to reduce risk. Sheet metal specialists, PAB provide to a range of sectors including automotive, rail, defence and special vehicle. Their vast capabilities span across a range of expertise, with a variety of skills including Metal pressing,  5 axis & 2 axis laser, Complex assemblies, 3d Printed fixtures and components, Coded welding and Bracketry Manufacture.

As with many businesses during the pandemic, PAB diversified in order to meet demand. With many Tier 1 businesses closing shop during the height of the pandemic,  PAB began producing hand sanitising units in order to help keep National Parks open for the public. They also invested in a 3D printer to provide cheaper and faster prototyping for their clients. As a result of their diversification and investment during the pandemic, the company received a ‘Manufacturing Heroes’ award, presented to them by Made in Group Chairman Lord Mike Whitby of Harbourne.

Previously focusing mainly on the automotive sector, PAB has gone from strength to strength when it comes to supplying to a multitude of sectors. The firm has plans to continue seeking opportunities to supply to more industries as part of their growth plan.

Seeking opportunities with fellow members of the Made in Group is already beginning to pay off for the firm. After attending a Made in Group taster event earlier this year, Danny Wheldon, Managing Director at PAB, connected with Richard Allen, Engineering Projects Manager at Plastic Coatings. PAB previously did business with a different supplier and are now looking into working with Plastic Coatings. Danny said:

“Made in the Midlands offers a great platform to make invaluable connections. Being part of the same community as other businesses establishes a level of trust and ensures we are like minded.”

PAB looks forward to meeting business leaders from different industries, to discover how they operate, as well as joining Made in Group at networking events and exhibitions. Danny concluded:

“ As a member of MIM we are looking forward to connecting with a range of businesses. Having a joint voice and mind set can only support the manufacturing industry and make the supply chain more efficient and sustainable.”

PAB hopes to add insight into dealing with OEMs on a first tier basis, passing over the knowledge gained over three decades, helping new companies overcome some of the hurdles they have experienced.
